Currently in my state, the Republican up for senate seems like a jerkoff and the Democrat does absolutely nothing.

There's a Libertarian but I'm not too keen on throwing away my vote, but I'm honestly leaning towards voting for her (which will probably ensure the Republican gets it, she's stealing votes from the Democrat)

In your case, I'd vote the Democrat. If neither are good, vote for whoever's more likely to be too lazy to do any real damage.

Their disregard for your problems doesn't mean they're wrong about climate change and a host of other issues that are simply more important.

edit: Care to actually tell us the problems they mock or are you going to remain vague for argumentative reasons?

In this case him voting along party lines would do me more damage, though. (although up until the Kavanaugh thing, he was inconsistent on that)

I dunno about that. I think both sides need power. The GoP for the economy and the Democrats for social issues. That's kinda why the pendulum works well for us

The Kavanaugh thing was very recent. You can't really say he's "not inconsistent anymore" just because he voted along party lines on one matter...

Agree, but it tends to change from time to time which one is worse than the other. That means the swing still happens even if everyone were to vote like I suggested.

That wasnt mockery, tone is difficult to nail down online like this, but I didnt mean to have a tone that sounded like mockery. It was a genuine question, and im legitimately curious as to what problems you mean, as I literally have no idea where exactly youre coming from.

Basically any time I express an opinion on anything that the left doesn't like, it immediately becomes "lol fuck you gun nut" or "oh man, poor white boy, your life must suck soooo much" or something stupid like that.

That's the whole point of this. Nobody actually cares about my problems or me, why would I care to vote and help you out if it is against my interests?

Because Republicans are committed to weakening environmental regulations at a time when climate change threatens to cause widespread suffering.

Because the Trump administration is laughably corrupt and Republicans have no interest in acknowledging this fact, much less holding them accountable for it.

Because Republicans want your boss to get richer at your expense.

Democrats aren't perfect on any of these issues, and I'm not sure what candidates we're specifically talking about here, but in general they aren't actively trying to roll back protections for the planet and workers.

But the right often do the same with the issues those on the left do care about, even legitimate ones. You can't really pretend that - on AVERAGE (ie: not saying you specifically do this) - it very much goes both ways. Of course when it's some bullcrap like "the government won't recognize the gender I invented the other day" that's fair enough, but the right can get very dismissive about eg. drug reform.

I can't really speak to "issues", but there are plenty of times where I wonder why the hell I should care about a lot of people who bitch on here when any time I express an opinion they don't like (no matter how civil) someone calls me a racist/idiot/sexist for having that view.

The reason I say it doesn't really speak to issues in my case is because I don't really care about anything besides the economy and my own rights. I'm always willing to vote for other people to get the rights they deserve, sure. But it becomes harder and harder when those same people make me out to be a villain because I happen to like guns as a hobby, I think antifa are disgusting or expect evidence with an accusation before I take a side.

Youd be surprised.

I do think in todays day and age its important to separate online life from reality, as lots of people act in ways that they wouldnt IRL when online, some are purely fake and cant actually be trusted.

I dont think my interactions with much of the right is a good representative of them in reality, as Ive had all sorts of insults pushed my way for similar issues just reversed.

Believe it or not, on a human level, I think youd be surprised how many people actually DO care.

Personally? I view online the same way I view traffic. There is an inherent dehumanizing that goes on online, where you are several steps removed, be it through a moniker, like mine preacher beelze or on twitter and facebook, where Im reduced to a photograph, more than a human.

Guns in particular is an emotional topic and I think its far more complex an issue than anyone gives it credit for, and youve got two hyperboles screaming at eachother a lot of the time... no shortage of that on the left... or the right... and their hyperboles fuel eachother.

Anyhow, their are lots of gun owners on the left who value the 2nd amendment. Its more common than you might think, while they may have (might not too) more leftist leanings on what to do, on that particular issue the hyper partisans scream loudest and misrepresent the whole.

As a leftist, Id not mock you for stating what you believe, I might disagree... but not mock, lest its particularly dumb, like youre believing that the earth is a 2dimensional plate on the back of a turtle, ill mock that, but if also fight for your right to believe it.
