Historically the midterms have not been kind to the party of the sitting president. I think its been like 50 years or so since the last time a sitting presidents Party won the mid-terms? Im not 100% sure about that though. In any event, I suspect that the Democrats will walk away net winners in the midterms, but I absolutely see the possibility of Republicans winning. What do you qualify as "winning" the midterms? The House tends to be a bit more influx(in recent memory, anyway), but this Senate map was always going to be extremely rough for Democrats and if they only were to go down a 52-48 minority in the Senate compared to how the map looked after the 2016 election than I wouldn't qualify that as a major loss.
