And let's say that Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies and Trump replaces her with another Kavanaugh/Gorsuch.

What's the worse that can happen?

I mean, after that Citizens United decision, can it really get any worse?

Well, they could finish off the VRA, overturn Roe v. Wade, continue their assault on unions, government regulation of all kind, etc. etc. Basically with impunity.

Essentially you'll have one party owning an entire branch of our government with no real way to change it until they retire/die which could be decades from now.

At least with Congress/President they can be voted out periodically.

Gerrymandering down to the house.

Yes, it can always get worse.

This. Heck, the president could probably declare himself King for life and have political opponents, even elected ones, removed and then deny other parties from running a candidate for the newly opened position. With the majority of the seats they'd ultimately win in appeals and be able to freely rewrite the laws and Constitution as they please.

Gerrymandering has been legal for a long time.

Political gerrymandering of voting districts does not violate the Equal Protection Clause unless there is discriminatory vote dilution evidenced by the continued frustration of the will of a majority of voters, or effective denial to a minority of voters of a fair chance to influence the political process.

Only liberal justices would allow the President a lifetime term - conservative justices actually try to follow the Constitution.

Why do you think this?

'It's a living document...'

Liberals generally believe that, regardless of what the Constitution actually says, its meaning changes. Conservatives, as a general rule, do not. Ergo, conservative justices are far, FAR less likely to give the office of President a lifetime term.

I don't think liberal justices would, either, but if anyone did, they'd be liberals.

I feel like most liberals think that judges are partisan. They are not. Trump could replace the entire court if they all suddenly retired, and they still wouldn't dare overturn previous rulings.

No. Literally the point of the Supreme Court is to determine if laws are Constitutional. Yes, that includes previous rulings, but, for the most part, previous rulings are treated as part of the Constitution.

Conservatives generally believe in supreme authority and the ends justify the means. They would be FAR more likely to enact one of their presidents as ruler for life.

And you have actual policy as it relates to the Supreme Court to justify this?

Name a liberal Supreme Court Justice who actually abides by the Constitution as it is written. Name a single liberal-authored position that follows the letter and spirit of the Constitution.

Hell, their opinions on the Second Amendment ALONE prove my point perfectly.

You mean the Constitution, that as it was written only applied to white Christian men?

Golly, you sure do seem to fundamentally misunderstand that it's a living document and was written so we CAN change it as the nation and society evolves.
