You would have to discard a lot of the teachings of Christianity if you were retaining the critical thinking and reasoning used in scientific endeavors.

There is simply not enough water present on earth for the great flood to have been possible, for a quick and simple example.

it's more like religious organizations (churches, etc) vs science than the religion itself.

They can totally be compatible unless you're like, singling out evangelicals. Baha'i, liberal Quakerism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoist, etc don't have any problem with science.

Looking to religion for answers and explanations won't get you scientifically satisfying results. However, there are plenty of people who do admit feeling a sense of spirituality when they become aware of how the sciences of nature are intertwined, and how we are all just a tiny bunch of beings in a much, much larger universe.

It's actually not so different from this description:

(The whole thing is pretty interesting, but for the sense of spirituality I'm referring to, Ctrl+F: Step 3)

Waitbutwhy is great

To me, I dont think science tries to answer the same questions that religion does. While Im an atheist myself, the religious upbringing Ive had has been more geared towards answering the kind of life I should lead and how I should treat others moreso than the facts of how we got here and such.
