The only time that happened was getting a playstation and an n64 in the same year. We only got the n64 because there was a really freaking big sale at toys r us and they got it like 60% off.

Mom got me a Nintendo console every gen from SNES to Wii.

My aunt bought me my NES. For my SNES my father said earn half of it, $75, on my summer job and he would pay the rest. I was working full time when I bought my N64 on launch day. Every other console I own I bought after moving out of my folks house.
