This thread is full of people downplaying whats in the game by using phrases like "a few gay characters" and "just one transgender character" and "only one quest about it." They've either not played the game or theyre trying to make a point and attack people by dishonestly representing the content in the game.

There are 6 characters (including the player character) at the 'home base.' Each of these characters is non-hetero and includes 3 gay males, 1 transgender MtF, an asexual female, and a bisexual female (who ends up dating the transgender character). There are 0 straight characters here.

Their sexuality doesn't play a role in the story whatsoever (include even being mentioned) until you do the side quests, which can be skipped if you don't want the achievement. Each of the five other characters have a chain of quests that start off mostly involving farming enemy drops and finding specific chests in the campaign. The quests fill in the back story and motivations of each individual character. As you get to the end of each character's quest chain, you start learning about their sexuality. When you complete all five characters' quest chains, you're given a fairly lengthy cut scene (it might be the longest cutscene in the game aside from the ending), where the characters site around a campfire talking about their sexuality and past relationships and so on. After that, another scene plays where the player character begins a relationship with the transgender character.

Eh, making the kind of game you want is fine. Make a game with six gay characters, six trans characters, six straight characters. As long as it's not being inserted into an existing franchise, I wouldn't really call it pandering. If the game sells well, good for them. If it doesn't sell well, then it may have to do with the ideological stance, or it could just be a bad game.

Everyone is either polyamerous, LGBT+ or both, unless they are a bad guy(as in male). This isn't even an exaggeration. Its like an episode of Friends: everyone is screwing everyone. They talk about this A LOT, i'm talking 25~50% of the text, or a good 75% if you only count conversations and don't count the story-text blurbs. A major plot point involves celebrating sperm-jacking, and has the gall to call the father the evil one in the situation. These plot points are completely unnecessary, and would be fine as a quirky addition, but when it takes up so much space, it really destroys the tone of an otherwise somber storyline. I think the game would have been more enjoyable if I avoided the sidequests completely (the reward was diving deeper into bad side-plot points and not much else).

I'm confused. Was this a Kickstarter project that was falsely advertised or something? Like, this narrative is not my cup of tea, but this is an indie project the devs have full control over as far as I can tell. It will either flourish or die depending on how people react to it. Pandering problems come about from overly progressive people taking on existing franchises and shoving it full of their narrative, then calling people x-ist when they don't like the changes made.

This whole complaint is dumb (because it's an original IP and the devs can do whatever they want as long as they're not misleading people), but I'm pretty sure his complaint isn't that it's not pandering to straight people, but that there's an excess of sexuality in a metroidvania. It'd be like getting a guitar hero game only to find out that all the songs are about Jesus.

its a 5 hour game with ever increasingly easy difficulty through level up progression in style of snes 16bit graphics metroidvania gameplay and the devs want $20 for it? yeah no. sans SJW nonsense aside, that's a crap deal.

yeah but the side quests aren't about their sex lives, not sure why you're assuming that. Some of the characters have romantic interests, like they do in many other games
