I see this accusation a lot. Someone gets called out for the stupid shit they post and the only response I see is "hey look it's another one of my stalkers."

To not be braindead shouldn't be held against you. If you make a stupid topic and/or post you rightfully deserve to be called out for it.

Is it just a weak deflection? I'm thinking yes, it's a "dying website" after all.

it's usually stupid considering when someone posts something really fucking stupid you can just tag them and remember it forever.

remembering it =/= stalking

if you want to follow them around in every topic and derail then yeah that can kinda get a little stalkerish.

The only person who has to think it's stupid or otherwise memorable is the one tagging you.

Yeah.

It doesn't really matter if it's actually stupid, just that someone thinks it is.

True.

I'm not sure what you're getting at though, how does this deal in with Stalking. Is it stalking to recognize someone being stupid and tag them as a reminder IYO?

Maybe not if they're just tagging you. But there are people who go through months of old posts on archive sites just to try to dig up dirt on specific users. It's a favored tactic of some who feel they can't reason effectively against someone, so they try to discredit the person instead of the argument. But that often means resorting to stalkerish behavior.

A lot times those blasts from the past serve as a deflection from the current argument.

It's amazing what people will resort to just to feel better.

That's true. Shit load of times I'll see "remember when this guy said this" about some shit completely irrelevant to whatever is being discussed. A lot of the times it's exaggerated bullshit, as well. Then people arguing against the guy will be "Wow he said that guess I know not to take anything he says seriously ever again".
