It is not comparison in what was better. Its different games with different feel to them.
I remember all the discussions there was about SH2 and the meaning of things and all the allegories.
I don't think RE2 or any of RE games was so impactful

SH1 > RE2 > SH2

Silent Hill 1 abused fog so much that it was intolerable....and I thought Turok: Dinosaur Hunter overused fog...

Easily Silent Hill 2.

for me personally RE2 was more impactful, but thats because of the effects it had on me at the time and what it got me into. in terms of the games designs overall then SH2. tho RE has always been more fun to actually play.

RE2 for me.
SH2 is actually my least favorite of the first three

Silent Hill 2 actually made me feel uneasy to play. It is the greatest horror game of all time IMO.

I would literally buy an HD remake done correctly for $100

Silent Hill 2 is legit one of the greatest video games of all time. Let alone horror games.

For me this is like asking "An enormous feast or a small carrot. What's a better meal for a famiy of 9?"

Silent Hill 2 and it's not even close.

I wanna get into Silent Hill but the first one is awful with the absurd amount of fog and the enemies that kill you almost instantly from out of nowhere. I can't NOT play a series from the beginning.

Resident evil 2. I played both that and the original at release.

I didn't play SH period until PS2 era. I enjoyed SH2 more though.

Normally I'd say "Start from the beginning!" with any series.

But with Silent Hill, 2 is largely unconncected to 1 and so much better.

If you can't play 1 then just skip it and maybe come back after 2

That's a hell of a roundabout way of saying you're too scared to play it.

As much as I dig RE2, I believe SH2 is better in just about every possible way.

RE2 was more impactful given when I played it (near release), but I admit SH2 is probably the better game, if not in gameplay, in story/atmosphere.

I was obsessed with RE2 in high school and used to beat it everyday after school.

Didnt play SH2 until the PS3 remaster.

RE2 was a fun action game, SH2 was far more memorable, though provoking experience.

SH2 is better to me.

It is the one game that i call my favorite of all time. It has so much content and the gameplay is so tight that you can play it dozens of times and never get bored.

To even 100% the game you would need at least 6 playthroughs of the main game plus the side content of 3 minigames. AND on top of that there is a fuck around mode where you can just have fun and dominate everything with no effort.

One of the hardest choices in my life here. Gameplay wise RE is better. But the story, lore, areas, everything else, SH2 wins. Hands down of the best crafted stories of any media ever aside from maybe True Detextive

I mostly avoid replays these days because I'm so sick of door loads and unskippable cutscenes

1st one wasnt scary, but 2 and 3 were.
