Boyd and Blair vodka, made 5 minutes from my house, considered by some to be one of the best vodkas in the world. This vodka is distilled from potatoes, and only uses the best part of the potato and everything else is thrown out.

I havent had this vodka in a few years, im interested to see what this tastes like now that ive gotten used to drinking spirits neat with nothing else. The last vodka I had was Tito's, which isn't bad and tasted decent neat. Tito's is the number one selling item in the entire state of Pennsylvania.

Prefer JWB. Which isn't vodka, but just saying. Never heard of your vodka there.

johnny walker black?

The vodka company that makes this isn't super big, but since their product has been called by various publications one of, if not the best vodkas they've tried. Not that reviews mean everything, but its nice to see some accolades.

I'm going to try this and review it in this here very topic. Been a few years since I actually had this one and not since i've appreciated alcohol like i have recently.

...you drink vodka neat?

Live life how you want, but damn. I'd consider vodka exclusively something you mix with other things.

Boyd and Blair potato vodka
Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries Pittsburgh, PA
$24.49
40% abv
size: 750ml
made with....potatoes

Okay, so this is a potato vodka, however unlike other potato vodkas this one uses only the best part of the potato in the creation, so there is no lesser potato, which other distillers always use some of those to increase output. So, this vodka is actually one they advertise as being sippable rather than mixable.

I've watched through the years as the bottle label's story mysteriously dropped the co-founder from the history after a dispute caused him to quit, so i've seen this vodka evolve.

The smell of this is kinda weird because I dont smell any alcohol, somewhat rare for vodka. Smells pretty smooth, and I think I smell something like butterscotch. the smell almost reminds me of tequilla.

As for the taste...its extremely smooth for a vodka. There is minimal alcohol burn. I notice a butterscotch flavor almost as well with some vanilla in there. This would be good for sipping because it isnt very harsh at all. And the mouthfeel is a bit creamy.

Overall I think this is a good vodka. You can sip on this pretty easily, but I honestly dont know about mixing it. I've tried before and it overpowers the mix and you lose the actual flavor this one had.

I'd recommend it.

Woops. Blue. The expensive one.

Sweet! I'll give it a read then.
