Metal gear- Pretty good game
Metal gear 2- Really good game
Snatcher- Excellent GAG for its time, style still holds up
Botaki series- Never played them, pretty highly regarded
Metal Gear Solid - Amazing
Policenauts- Never played it, pretty highly regarded
Metal Gear Solid 2- Amazing
Metal Gear Solid 3- One of the best games of its generation
Metal Gear Solid 4- Very contentious. I didn't like it, many others did
Peace Walker- Really good game.
P.T.- A silly little demo that was so impactful and stylish it set the internet on fire for a good while
Metal Gear Solid 5- Very contentious, I liked it, many others didn't

The reason Kojima is held so highly is because the vast majority of games that he plays a very large part in are held to very high esteem. You can make up stuff about how that's actually secretly thanks to everyone else he's ever worked with, which is baseless and spun by bitter people, but in the end he's got a proven track record that the contrarian internet can't really tarnish

mgs4 was garbage

At least it hit the good story beats rather than having you do some boring missions with no interesting context for fifteen hours before you rescue an old man who gives you the entire plot of the game on three hours of cassettes.

That's maybe the worst comparison I've ever heard. Lucas is known for a handful of things and has a library of other mediocre misery surrounding it, whereas Kojima has mostly blockbusters and then MGSV which chafed some people's genitals

Nobody would notice him, or at least act like he's special, if he didn't have such a big ego that he has to have "Directed/Produced by Hideo Kojima" on the front of every box.

The funniest thing is that Kojima has talent, but the more and more control he is given the more off the rails everything he does becomes. He's kind of like the George Lucas of Video Games.

Like, I wonder if half of his fanboys have even heard of half the ideas that ended up getting scrapped for Metal Gear Solid.

Literally everything good with his name attached to it was done in spite of him, not because of him. Dude's a complete hack.

Kojima fanboys are the absolute worst. I used to think they were just high schoolers who didn't have any experience with actual film, but now I just realize they are just losers who have no cultural identity outside of video games.

I still don't get why people say MGS is the best story in games.

I like MGS, but it's a complete cluster fuck as a series.

I can kind of see why some people would put MGS2 in this category, I wouldn't agree with it but at least I can understand it.

But saying all the games have one of the best stories? Come on

Me too, but it's like a cheesy action b-movie plot with nonsensical twists.

That's why I love it, but I'm not going to call it one of the best stories in games.

I understand why people think it about MGS2 because it kind of has this faux deepness to it. But other than that I don't understand why people think this about any of the games, let alone the whole season.

Because he conned thousands of people into believing that his parody of spy fiction was serious spy fiction and then spent the next few decades mocking the fans for buying into it, only to be heaped with their praise for mockingly selling them crap for years and years.

People don't like Metal Gear's story because it's grounded and sleek. The insanity of it is what's great about it.
