Yeah when I was a kid I messed that up and didnt think anything of it until I found out later. I also screwed up getting Amina(I think is the name) as well.

I did it legit a couple times. Not just hiding behind the goal.

Slightly off-topic, but along the same lines. Has anyone gotten 100% on the Sword Match in Final Fantasy IX? At the very start, as you're doing the play, when you have to hit the correct buttons to do the sword fight. I can do it perfectly, but still can't get everyone to love me

Did it recently. Took a couple tries, but eventually won.
Apparently hiding behind your goalie can confuse the ai, and allow you to stall the match.

Didn't work for me, so I had to go legit.

Its not THAT hard, you could even score two goals in the first half without the Jecht shot, Tidus does a special dance if you do.

Easiest way of doing it:

Hope you get the ball first, once you have the ball take Tidus into the backfield and just continuously keep passing between Tidus and another defender(preferable Jassu). You wont get attacked by any of the Luca defenders, only their forwards, and they dont have the traits to the take the ball away from Tidus or your defenders.

The more passes you get in between Tidus and your defenders, the higher their level will be by the second half. I once got 2 players up to lvl 5 in one half this way. The second half becomes easy peasy to score if you do that.

I have the strangest luck with FFX. I've never missed the Jecht Shot, never lost the first BB game(and I've done it without using the Jecht Shot for fun), never had to try more than twice at chocobo dodging, and dodging lightning is easy even without the crater trick.

However, the fucking butterflies are the bane of my existence. No idea why, but it takes me hours upon hours to do it every time I replay it. They utterly ravage my ass every time.

I never had a difficulty issue with blitzball.

The chocobo dodging sucked ass though, took me like, an hour and a half.

Fuck lightning bolt dodging, didn't even bother legit trying it, fuck that shit.

I'm "flexing" by saying that the Macalania Woods butterfly mini-game, considered one of the easier mini-games in FFX, blows my ass out every time I play the game.

the first match is easy (ignoring rng)

step 1: obtain jecht shot
step 2: hope you gain control at some point. the enemy could just get the ball and score before you can do anything which sucks.
step 3: hide behind your goalie. this will expose a bug in the AI, causing the enemy to go back to their starting points (assuming they aren't right on your ass when you go to hide)
step 4: utilize this opening to get to the enemy goal with 1-3 defenders tops
step 5: jecht shot, get your 1 and only point of the match
step 6: hide behind your goalie again until it times out
step 7: hide again when you get wakka

now, wakka is decent enough to score a goal on his own but this is reserved for worst case scenarios where rng causes you to be scored against.
