Only if you can't get enough bandwidth between your router and the extender.

That's all dependent on distance and how many walls / things are in the way.

do you live in a place where other wifi networks might be interfering? might be worth it to check on channels and see if there's a better one you could be on.

If you see a lot of networks in the channels between 1, 6, or 11, then try to use the one of those three that's in the smallest dogpile.

If this is in the US, channel 14 isn't an option.
