imgtc is ad-free since it's still small, but once it becomes more mainstream he's going to have trouble affording to run the website. Would you be willing to give Corrupt_Power money to keep imgtc ad free?

Its been bad for years. When they added a community is when it started to go downhill. So glad reddit started hosting their own images, because Imgur (created to serve reddit because of all of the bloat other image hosting sites has) became just as bloated as the sites it replaced

Yeah pretty much. I still remember when people used to swear by imageshack, and later photobucket. Both of them became real garbage after a while.

From a reddit post:
Thus far every image hosting site has gone the cycle of initially good, annoying attempts at monetizing, then shutting down. Which, of course, leaves a trail of forum posts, comments, etc, with broken images and links.

What I don't get is people still using it when it turns to garbage. We've accepted the premise that all of these image hosting sites eventually turn to garbage, but why do people behave as if abandoning them when they do is actually difficult? It isn't. Just start using the next best thing. I still see imgur links here all of the time.

The built-in embed feature doesn't work (as Allen said it used some workaround instead of just using Imgur's own embed code or whatever, so Imgur blocked it from working) but the ImageFAQs script does. I can't stand how intrusive and unintuitive the UI for ImageFAQs is though.

Google is sticking more and more ads on their shit and becoming less useful. They might be a powerful company but they don't seem to be more powerful than the ad companies these days.

I mean, you're not proving me wrong here. In my eyes there is no reason to use Google if they can't make a better search engine than competitors.

I guess I should've figured that by the last time I was told by a normal they were posting "memes" (hank hill quotations) on it. literally just found out about the phrase "not very cash money of you."

sometimes you end up downlading the image or getting a thumbnail of the image or just getting a link to the page the image is on.

I mean... imgur was created for reddit's community, but reddit started hosting images on their own and imgur started being a community on its own. imgur now is mostly catering to their own community. it's basically reddit 2.
