It's not generic, there's a pretty solid game underneath the pretty normal controls and gameplay. Just go with your gut and prepare to live with your decisions.

If you're talking about gunplay, then sure, it's just another TPS.

When you really get into the story, characters and their decisions, it's one of the best experiences you'll ever have with a videogame.

I seriously recommend the game even if you're not a big fan of third person shooters. It's like playing an RPG with zero RPG elements.

Don't know if I'd call them different paths, but there are indeed different consequences to choices you'll make throughout the game. It will stay relatively the same, but you can have different endings.

the point of that post was to not hype him up so hard (especially with the dumb nier automata comparison, hes kinda expecting way too much there) but y'all just can't help yourself. meh. this game doesn't have as much of an effect when you're expecting/waiting for shit to happen. so my "tip" is to just leave this topic and play the damn game before everyone puts their five cents in.

The combat is a Gears of War clone. And I don't mean it's just another cover shooter, it literally copies and pastes the controls and everything.

Don't let the pretentious hipster garbage surrounding it cloud your opinion. It's good if you like 3rd person shooters; I liked it. It's nothing to write home about, though.

Glad you liked it. I remember going into it pretty blind, after buying it on sale for under 10 bucks digital, and getting sucked into it pretty hard for a couple days and thinking it was pretty close to a gem.

but yeah, discarding the comparisons the Nier the game is great. The gameplay is generic but can't really call it bad. The story is unique and pulled me in.

gotta admit that room with the mannequins teleporting around, lights blinking etc gave me the spooks. if it had turned into a horror i might have had to stop and then watch the rest on youtube like a wimp

This game has one of the most haunting scenes in any videogame I've ever played. It's when you die to Lugo, which is actually just Walker's delusion and there's this special game over screen where a woman is comforting her child during the white phosporus attack with her humming lullaby in the background. That fucked me up so bad.
