I never really listened to any of his stand-up but I loved him on SNL's Weekend Update segment.

Not liking norm McDonald is literally on the level of not liking Eddie Murphy or George Carlin. Those guys understand comedy. They were born funny.

He's always been my favourite comedian.
I don't agree with his recent missteps, but he HAS had a history of jokes that are brutally offensive. I thought he was smarter than to be dropping his recent comments live on air, but I suppose part of the "I'm just a dumb guy" act isn't a full act. He is an old white guy after all, and I've been very unsuccessful in reprogramming my own parents to omit extremely offensive words from their vernacular. Definitely critical of the man.
