Ill be 28 by the time I get out of the Marine Corps and go back to school. Just trying to see what in general I can expect to be different because of my age gap. If anything I guess.

Do you think anybody will care or will I be that creepy old guy?

Undergrad I went just after high school.

Grad school I started when I was 31, finished when I was 35.

It's dependent on where you go, but there are a good percentage of people going to school who are older.
"Non-traditional" is what they called them, though I don't know if they still call them that. Regardless, most any university will have social accommodations for such people.

In short, you'll be as creepy as people see you. Y'know, don't try to integrate too heavily with the 19-year-old freshmen on a relationship level and you'll probably be fine.

But yeah, colleges are well-aware of older students existing and it's usually not a big deal.

I'm 30 and just started grad school but I don't feel creepy because I look a lot younger than 30. I'm not trying to get with freshmen or anything like that. I have a girlfriend, so I don't need anymore dates.

No, if anything the students in their late 20s were the cool ones. Like how when you're a freshman in high school the seniors look like they have life figured out and they're cool as shit

You're gonna have a great time. I wish I'd taken a few years to work and travel before college

My sister had a guy in her class who was in his 50's. Everybody loved him.

When i was 22 i had a guy in my class who was 33. Again, everybody loved him.

Age gap means nothing in college. Everybody's pretty chill and friendly, or at least most are.

I'm 33 and my boss is looking at sending me to university while I work. Having a degree would help with my visa for sure but that's about it. When I eventually return to Canada whatever degree I get would essentially be worthless though (I'm a heavy equipment operator by trade and that's what I would return to doing).

Honestly, classmates and teachers don't care. As long as you're not making a clown of yourself nor you're creeping on fresh 18yo pussy, you'll be fine >_> You still interact with classmates just fine and study together even, but you'll probably not make any friendships outside the classroom due to the age gap.

What about being geriatric, like 40 but going to grad school instead of college? Like medical school or law school or PhD

25, and also a Marine Vet. There will be some young students you might want to strangle cuz the Marines teaches us to react to lazy/ disrespectful behavior like a raging alcoholic step father. If you resist the urge and just focus on your course work nobody will really pay you much mind. At least in my experience.

Also if it comes out you're a vet you will get the stereotypical "where have you been?" "Who have you killed?" questions.

If youre undergrad at a university with dorm life it can lead to some potentially sorta awkward moments. Grad school is a different animal - tons of older folks there.

Community college is a mix. Youll have a lot of young people who are basically going b/c theyre being forced to and who dont care and then youll have a lot of young professionals who are polishing up their resume with extra skills.
