There's been a slew of generic boring dads in video gaming lately like Joel or New Kratos or Evil Within Guy.
and there's been a few moms who appear but either do nothing or just die like Hope and Cloud's mom in Final Fantasy or Shepard's mom in Mass Effect. But how many games let you actually control a character who is a mother? For the sake of argument Heather Mason does not count. A few fighting games do like Sonya Blade or Michelle/Jun from Tekken And I guess any alien game where you control Ripley is one but that feels kinda cheap. Tbqh, I find playing the mom in fallout 4 better than the dad. Yeah it makes more sense gameplay wise for the dad since he's ex military and would have a logical advantage in that regard, but his tone throughout the game is so jovial and nonchalant, like he couldn't possibly care any less, even when you try to be serious.
The mom makes more sense to me. Her tone is better, and she's literally the mother of an infant son who was taken, her mama bear instincts would be on full display. I like to try and be a cold mom who takes no shit from anyone. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Rosalina is an adoptive mother to the lumas in Mario Galaxy and is playable in several games now.
