An Animal Crossing like the GameCube one, but with something added from New Leaf would be amazing.

That "you're the Mayor" nonsense is lame. Give Tortimer that job.

I got no corny lines, so enjoy the image. If you don't, oh well.

the removal of stuff like miiverse and lack of things like QR codes+spotpass would really limit the appeal the game would have. sure you'd probably have a large amount of fanfare for it to not be a party game, but the large amount of community built around it would be lost.

I mean what else can they do with Animal Crossing that'd make it as good as New Leaf, but better? secret caves behind the waterfall? maybe useful features ingame like packing whole suits into a set, or even recoloring almost any piece of clothing?

Animal Crossing already started to show signs of wearing thin, that it was basically Nintendogs-tier to Nintendo fans during the Wii Music generation. so it jumping up from the grave with New Leaf was kind of amazing. it certainly didn't feel like a downgrade (besides the internet) like Wild World was.

hey, I liked Wild World

but then, WW and New Leaf are the only AC games I've played. The series seems better suited for handhelds so a Switch version seems obvious

You make it sound like the Miiverse integration in New Leaf was super heavy

Game was fine before all of that and it'll be fine now. It's a life sim and it's one of Nintendo's popular franchises

I don't mean that the miiverse was vital, but more like that had it remained alive, then there could have been another avenue for sharing content. otherwise you just have individual websites like here and Pixiv for QR codes. with nintendo wiping their hands clean with what people post online, i would not be surprised if there was less emphasis on online content, barring going to friends towns or whatever.

A large part of New Leaf was the sheer amount of customization you could do in the game, ranging from the town to even furnishings. and they even managed to add a few minigames with the Welcome Amiibo update, which seems like a way to replace things like NES games. just seems like it'd be a step backwards if they reduced on the things they added with New Leaf.

It's simpler to remain with what worked, but since there's much more on the line, i'd honestly think that a Switch Animal Crossing would somehow be in a worse position compared to New Leaf. Nintendo would basically have to do better than stuff like the Splatoon 2 servers, or even offering NES games as a Nintendo Online-only thing...than a fully fledged Virtual Console. like the game will probably be graphically gourgous, but the player interaction will be extremely limited.
