Will anything satisfy Trump and the right?

No, you cannot force players to stand. And they are business partners not employees, so no you cannot fire them or punish them any way you want.

I'd assume to the business that they work in.

Y'know. Obviously.

No, and the NFL was dumb for thinking it could square that circle

But... NFL players are in fact employees of their own team.

I mean assuming that's what TC was referring to. It's kinda vague.

Business partners with the NFL owners.

Business partners with the NFL owners.

No one "owns" the NFL. It's a nonprofit organization, and the people who serve on it are the owners of their individual teams. Football players are employees of individual owners.

"nonprofit"

Really..... I shouldn't take you seriously, but my dumbass still will.

They "work for" the NFL so the business can thrive and they make a profit. The players are owed a percentage of that profit so they are business partners. They aren't office employees that have to abide by everything the boss says.

The NFL's league office was a non-profit until a few years ago: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/nfl-no-longer-non-profit-giving-tax-exempt-status-article-1.2202484

NFL players have a union and a collective bargaining agreement that protects them from some of their owners' more capricious whims, but that doesn't mean they aren't employees.

Ah, that's my mistake.

Still, TC is being quite vague about his statement here, and his "I shouldn't take you seriously" garbage isn't helping.

The bottom line is that football players are employees of their own team, under the team owners. Team owners can fire employees for breach of contract, just so long as it's something that is actually stipulated in the contract.

Team owners serve on the NFL, which okay, is not a non-profit anymore, but still the NFL commission cannot fire players, correct, but all the owners serve on the NFL, and thus they have a say in how the general wind goes. This has been a point of contention in the last year or so as they discuss whether they can make it an official part of the NFL rulebook to, for example, not kneel during the National Anthem.

So, my confusion stems from this statement of TC's:

No, you cannot force players to stand. And they are business partners not employees, so no you cannot fire them or punish them any way you want.

The question is: who is he addressing? The President? No, of course he can't fire NFL players, and no, he's not in a business partnership with them.

Is he addressing the team owners? Then yes, they CAN fire their players for breach of contract, because they ARE employees

Is he addressing the NFL itself? There it will get trickier, because yes, they are business partners in that sense, but because as I said earlier, they can be convinced to create a rulebook whereby they'll be able to, ultimately, fire people for kneeling.

Just looking for clarification so we're all on the same page.

So you *are* referring to the NFL itself. Okay, that's all you had to say.

I mean, no, I don't know all the details of the CBA. You could enlighten me, or continue to insult me.

Players and owners agree on the rules in the CBA. Not just the owners. They are also owed a percentage of profits. What employees do you know IRL are owned a stake in the profits?

If you're serious my apologies. If you're trying to troll or playing ignorant I'm not. Hard to tell on gamefaqs.
