this, the only reason she's in the show is to be a plot device, something to block jim & pam's relationship, and she is only in there for like one season and one or two guest appearances later on

It's Rashida Jones. It didn't cross your mind that he mindlessly liked whatever role she played by virtue of it being simply her? Folks are like that and can't separate actor admiration from how well written some of their characters actually are.
