Most people have been saying it's an improvement over the last season. I thought last season was judged too harshly anyway, so I'm pretty optimistic.

I'm honestly starting to think this show have some kind of target on its back.
I recall reading reviews before watching the first season and a bunch of them was talking about the show's "race issue".
Then I watched it and I was really confused as to what those articles were going on about. Of all the things the show did wrong; race had nothing to do with any of it. In fact, nobody's race was ever prioritized from what I remember.

Yeah, IF was to me the only show that actually picked up in 2nd half.

Daredevil is the only one I care to watch at this point. Jessica Jones season 2 bored me halfway in without Kilgrave to carry it.

The first three episodes almost made me skip out on the show entirely. After a month or so later, I continued watching it and actually enjoyed it every here and there. Overall, I thought it was just mediocre or slightly above that.

Also I'll say that I didn't find the show to be terrible, but just mediocre. I mean, it held my interest enough to watch it all the way through at least. If anything I liked it more than Defenders which was just garbage.

You'd think they'd actually cast someone with martial arts experience for a character such as Iron Fist

My problems with IF1 amount to the fight choreography being absolutely lame except for that ONE fight with the drunken boxer, Rand's character supposing to be half this unknowable badass and half a naive rich boy, neither of which Jones was able to pull off, and the Meachum siblings being thoroughly unenjoyable. I somewhat liked David Wenham, but he had so little to work with.

Basically every character good at martial arts in the show came off as pretentious and pompous. Barely a shred of humility for the power they wielded. I understand a bit of snark and sarcasm in these Marvel shows, but if you lay it on too thick, you're just an asshole.

In short, Iron Fist's best scene in any Marvel production was in Luke Cage 2, where he and Luke shared an admittedly very heartwarming scene as they played off each other.

I don't blame Jones at all for the problems that character had. The writing is just so bad that I'm not sure any actor could've salvaged it.

Sorry, where I meant to go with that statement is that they wrote him in a way the actor couldn't manage, so instead they *should* have written him differently. Part of it is on Finn, part of it on the writers.

I agree with this list exactly. Except I cant speak for LC season 2. I never watched that one. It was so boring after Cottonmouth died. It was a chore to finish.

I wouldn't put it in high tier. It's mid tier at best. The first half is great, the second half drags. There's one highlight episode near the end but otherwise everyone acts really stupid just to stretch the story out.

Bushmaster is a great villain, but has an awful ending.

basically people had a problem not because they thought he was Asian, but because it was the perfect opportunity for them to showcase THE HALF WHITE HALF ASIAN MARTIAL ARTIST ACTOR WHO WAS HIRED ONTO THE SHOW TO ACT but instead they went with a scrawny white guy who can't do martial arts

The white-bias was too transparent, and THAT is the REAL race issue with Iron Fist

Bushmaster was fantastic in lc2.

I'm not very familiar with the defenders in general despite being fairly big into marvel stuff, so the shhows stories need to be able to carry their own weight for me to be interested.

I'll give iron fist 2 a chance but I wish the shows could be as strong as season 1-2 ep4 of dd or all of punisher. The whole experience would be amazing.

Iron Fist is in a weird situation for me because the heavy influence of asian culture on his mythology is ironically what makes me kind of weary about making him an Asian-American, and I'm not one of those people that go "hurr the character is traditionally white, so keep him white!" crowd but I'm just looking at it from a certain angle.

Because on a surface level, it totally makes sense to make Danny asian. But the implications kind of bother me. You're essentially stuck in two situations: you make him an Asian-American but it doesn't really change anything about the plot. Does it improve the story in any way? Not really, unless you're the one of the people that thinks that the "white savior" aspect, whether intentional or unintentional, significantly hurts the quality of the show (I'd argue it's the least of the first season's problems, but whatever).

Also, I can't speak for Asians, but as someone who belongs to another minority group, I know how I felt when Black Panther came out and even Luke Cage. They were really the first mainstream superhero TV show/movies to be unapologetically black and feature an all black cast. I wanted them to truly embrace that culture and take advantage of that opportunity to talk about some topics that are seldom explored in the superhero genre, and we got that. I imagine many veterans probably felt the same way about The Punisher as well. It would feel like a total missed opportunity to have an Asian-American mainstream superhero headline his own anything for the first time, and not use that to relate to your Asian viewers in a way that speaks to them. It wouldn't be like changing Human Torch to a black guy, because Fantastic Four really has nothing to do with black people and the characters can basically be any race while having the story still make sense (I guess The Thing would be a bit more difficult to reconcile), while Iron Fist is heavily inspired by Asian culture. Buuuuut.....

Iron Fist also isn't an Asian character. So imagine if you've got this hit TV show featuring an asian superhero, giving him massive mainstream exposure and it becomes this big stepping stone for featuring more asian superheroes in mainstream media (Shang Chi, anyone? I'd love to see that). But then Asian Marvel fans can't even really celebrate him because in 99% of other media featuring the character, he's just some rich white guy. And I know characters, especially if the blow up in outside media, will usually have their comic background change to reflect that, but it's not like Iron Fist is some obscure character. He's probably not far down on Marvel's B-list and he has nearly 50 years of comic book history.

Danny comes off as a whiney bitch and for a kung fu guy you need good fight scenes. His scene in Luke cage was promising. Sad to hear that doesnt carry into his own show.
