@INCEPTlON

Theres a fan project called One Pace you can google that edits the show to remove filler and bloat. Id watch that from the start; some earlier arcs dont have the treatment yet but the ones that do

It is a literal godsend. People say Enies Lobby is good? That shit is horridly paced in the anime and has filler episodes in the middle of it. At one point they spend seven episodes jumping off a bridge and everyone gets a full episode of flashbacks to earlier scenes per character.

One Pace is the only way a sane person would watch this otherwise fun manga in tv show form.

An arc called thriller bark is over 50 episodes in the main show and like 25 in one pace

The amount of bloat makes Dragon Ball Z seem rushed

I'm still shocked they don't make all the cover arcs into episodes.

They did it for the first two arcs, and the ratings dropped to the ground. Episodes without Luffy get no viewers.

Late to the topic, but it's definitely worth it. Enies Lobby is indeed where everyone agrees the pacing becomes worse, but I think the best solution is to just watch until it bothers you, if that's at that point so be it, but personally, I've watched through it all so far (a little bit behind currently, but I'll catch up) and at no point did it ever really bother me, loved almost every minute.

They used to tie filler things into regular arcs (like Loguetown and Long Ring Long Land) so it can't really be skipped. Regarding actual filler arcs, One Piece manages to have very little of it and they're all very short and not too bad, so I would just watch through it, but you're not missing out either. Except for the G8 filler arc, which I'd recommend not skipping. It's a great miniarc for various reasons and its tied well in between two arcs as well. When I first watched the anime I actually had no idea it was filler I just watched through it, enjoyed it, and was surprised when someone here told me that was filler.

It is one of the most fun and emotional experiences I've ever had.

Do yourself a favor and watch/learn the OP songs. They're largely incredible. Some of them get regular spins for me even to this day.

But yes, definitely make the jump to manga only and go watch the epic fights/parts on youtube to save yourself a world of time.

It's definitely worth it. Very emotionally satisfying, cool fights, funny humour. It's got it all.

Quality is basically always consistently very high throughout it's entire length. In fact, I thought to myself while reading the most recent few chapters that have come out "this is One Piece. This is what it's all about. Oda's still got it after all these years." It's just so good.

The anime does have pacing problems after like 300 episodes, so like people have said, you could switch to the manga to retain excellent quality.

It's also the kind of show that tends to get better and better every arc. Though there's lots of good stuff early on. Personally, I think episode 37 is one of the best in the series.

Watchthrough topic go.
