It was one of this Kaisers many peculiarities that he was completely unable to calibrate his behaviour to the contexts in which his high office obliged him to operate. Too often he spoke not like a monarch, but like an over-excited teenager giving free rein to his current preoccupations.

Wilhelm frequently especially in the early years of his reign bypassed his responsible ministers by consulting with favourites, encouraged factional strife in order to undermine the unity of government, and expounded views that had not been cleared with the relevant ministers or were at odds with the prevailing policy.

Max Hastings wrote that Wilhelm was a brittle personality whose yearning for respect caused him to intersperse blandishments and threats in ill-judged succession. Sean McMeekin in his book July 1914 wrote that Wilhelm had an insecurity complex, a need for constant attention and acclaim. As one of his many critics put it, the kaiser needed to be the stag at every hunt, the bride at every wedding, and the corpse at every funeral. He also noted Eager for praise, taking offense at the merest slight, the kaiser was a difficult man to work for. Bismarck had disdained to gratify Wilhelm IIs fragile ego after he became emperor in 1888, which led to his sacking two years later.

Couriers would probably be not part of the military today what with internet and satellites making delivering orders trivial in most cases.

I don't know to what extent, but they can still be used.
In some of the exercises i've been on, i've seen several motorcycle couriers.

You see war with the USSR as an unavoidable conflict, you have just steam rolled Europe with your blirzkrieg tactics, you beat the **** our of the Russian empire in WW1, Stalin just purged his military staff and was rebuilding his country for a war aimed towards you, and the USSR fought a sloppy war against Finland. Last, the USSR has oil and large amounts of arable land for food which the Germans were severely lacking. Giving these thought points, do you really blame them?

Oh, I'm not saying it was impossible, I'm saying the way he did it was stupid. He barely did any recon, to the point he didn't know the Russians had tanks. Then, he had a solid plan, but abandoned it the minute that Stalingrad became a quagmire, he redirected all resources to the city, basically abandoning the oil rich caucuses, to focus on a city largely due to his pride. He also outright attacked the peasants, who would have been handy allies right off the bat, because they weren't Aryan enough for him. He also chose to do this when the US was joining the war in Europe and after Africa was already a losing front. Even if Russia was a juicy, weak target, so was Germany and sacrificing your well being on a chance to take out an enemy is a suicide run, and the last desperate tactic of someone who has already made a shit-ton of bad decisions.

Oh, is he a holocaust denier?

In that case, I doubt there is any helping him. We've had over 80 years to reflect on the absolute horror of the holocaust and the Third Reich, and they turn around and say, "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea". Absolute garbage. I have no fucking respect for them. They are almost worst than the original Nazis because they have had 80 years of history showing them why it was an awful idea and decide to support it anyway.
