I haven't watched since over 3 years or so ago... What's happened since? Is it the same s*** acts dominating the main show every week like Roman Reigns and Cena?

I saw on the news a month or so ago they just signed one of the biggest tv deals in history (worth something like $500 million a year) so I'm guessing yes, cable companies still see it as something they really want on their networks.

Probably because it has no direct competition and hasn't for almost two decades now

The product is pretty much braindead right now. They just had Braun, the most over dude on the roster turn heel to try and get some face pops for Roman.

WWE isn't as big as it was before IMO but it's doing a lot better than other entertainment companies are comparatively so it's raking in money.

I would also say professional wrestling in general is bigger than it has ever been

I liked it until Wrestlemania XX. They did a brand split right after that and it wasn't the same. 2004 saw a lot of people leaving or fired as well. I think 2006 was the last time I enjoyed any of it.

WCW had it's best roster. All Japan, New Japan, and AAA were all having their best years. All Japan Women was dying off a bit, but still had a fantastic mid-90s run, just not so much in 1997.

It's crazy to think someone stopped watching during the hottest period in wrestling

I was a hulkamaniac.

Hulkamania was dead.

The heroes were gone.

I loved the cartoonish feel. I loved watching Hulk Hogan beat up the Iron Sheik. I loved flag-waving Lex Luger bodyslamming Yokozuna. I loved the dead man walking Undertaker.

The attitude era just seemed to kill everything. It felt way too different.

Stopped around 10 years ago, and it so happened that my TV package lost the channels that broadcast it around then.

The TV picks it up again since a couple months ago so I just switch to it if there's nothing else and I've got time to kill. At least there's no Cena now, thank god for that. Couldn't recognize almost anybody in the roster now, though, except old and beat-up Hardys, Randy Orton(never liked him tbh), Lesnar(heard he was back), Lashley(woah wtf he's back too?!), was-some-unimportant-noob-last-time-I-saw-him Miz, Kofi and Ziggler(holy lol he was one of the guys in that awful Spirit Squad?! Never woulda guessed lmao). Had to reacquaint myself with the new roster a bit.

At least there's this Shield thing going on. Only heard of them second-hand through my brother saying something about them being the new big-shots like 5 years ago, so at least that looks fresh. Also heard about grumblings regarding Reigns that he's the new Cena or something, but at the moment he's fresh to me so I guess he's fine, though if that's true I might quickly tire of him. Also, it's great to see AJ Styles and Samoa Joe on WWE, two of the only three things I liked about TNA when I watched some of it way back.

Watched religiously in 04-06 (Edge is my all time favourite), lost interest but still followed it, got right back into it with CM Punk's pipebomb in 2011, then haven't watched anything since about 2013.

I still check results/the WWE board every now and then, but I've always been drawn to heels like Edge and Punk, and from what I read there's nobody like that.

I follow the results just to see what's going on. But after Benoit its hard for me to care.

I enjoyed it in the 80s and loved the Monday
Night war's in the 90s.

But after Benoit it lost its innocence.

I miss when there was a variety of gimmicks and wrestler names and great catchphrases and trademark moves and attires. Almost everyone used to feel unique back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

How are things now? Looks like a lot of people just use a real sounding name and bland tights.

Also a crap load of promotions and organizations were gone by the mid 90s.

No AWA, CCW, and SMW went under.

Had none of the reginal stuff I use to watch either on TV.

Use to watch one based around Chicago... (hell I just read that it lasted up until 2011 and had a acronym dispute with WCW).

Seemed like Rasslin was on TV everyday back then.

And how many 100s of 5 Star matches happened between New Japan, All Japan and All Japan Women in the 90s? And were doing amazing numbers Manami Toyota, a female, has 17 of them between 91 and 95, one of them being given a 5 1/2 Stars after Big Daddy Dave broke his own scale last year. Two of them were in the same night

Misawa had 14 during that time

I know this topic is about the WWE, but Pro Wrestling was amazing in the mid-90s. You just had to look for it. And a lot of those absolutely amazing New Japan talent ended up working for WCW and were on every Monday Night having fantastic matches

And let's now forget this being the best time for ECW when there was great story arcs and not just violence
