I bought a Note 8 a few months ago as Verizon had it for $200 off.

No dual speakers but its good for another for fun phone.

The Note 9 is a beast though. Im waiting for 5G before investing in new tech however.

I got the 512GB unlocked Note 9 a couple weeks ago. I'm liking it a lot.

$1000 isn't much when you have a good job and I'll be using it for at least a year

I plan on getting one IN January when my parents come to China. They are both happily happily using their S5's still so going to get them to get an upgrade then give the phone to me. That was it'll only cost me like $200 instead of well over a thousand. I definitely need a new phone because my S7's screen is fucked.

It is for me. I use it every day. I also used the Bluetooth capability to take pictures while filming a video the other day

Yeah I had a S8 before but life kinda fucke dit up so I was looking for a something new and decided on the note instead of the s9. The stylus is very nice for like the picture option and I like the quick notes with it. Besides that I've found it nice on certain apps or when I'm playing FE heroes

I have an S8+ and am waiting on the S10+ to see if I get that or the Note 9 as an upgrade.

...or I may not upgrade at all. My phone is still pretty slick and I continue to discover new features with it.

Samsung these days are just Apple but they run Android OS. Overpriced, poor build quality, etc.

If you want something that's affordable and yet good quality (both in terms of build quality and specs), Meizu or Xiaomi are well worth looking into. They're both starting to become a bit pricy themselves now, but no good brand has popped up to replace them as the "cheap but good" option yet (I did at one point think Blackview may have been, but I actually got a Blackview phone and they're more "cheap and shitty" than "cheap but good"), and they're still significantly cheaper than Samsung (Meizu a bit more so than Xiaomi).

I myself am currently deciding whether to get Meizu M6 Note or Meizu 15 as my next phone (I've ruled out the Meizu 15 Plus, 6" is too big). Meizu M6 Note is about 30% cheaper and supports LTE Band 28 (I live in one of the few places that actually uses it, although we have pretty good coverage even without it - almost everywhere that doesn't have Band 3 LTE, has good 3G signal, and I don't generally do anything on-the-go that needs 4G speeds), but Meizu 15 is better in pretty much every other way. My current phone is the Meizu M3 Note, which I've had for the bigger part of the last 3 years (I used a Blackview P10000 Pro for about a month, before it crapped out); it's still in perfect working condition apart from normal wear on the battery.

I stopped reading from there. Poor build quality where? Apple started #bendgate, and Samsung took it from there to create a standard to never do what Apple admittedly did with its mistake. The Note 7 fiasco was a quality control issue with being too ambitious with battery size fitment, but never did holding any of their phones felt like poor build quality.
