So the hype is about the graphics? lol I'm interested in how creative you can guide your character in this but I'm not getting overexcited for something I haven't played yet.

No? If anything the visuals are pretty standard for the generation. It's just doing a lot.

That was at TC when he said "that looks anything like this, at this scale, with these graphics". That was his answer for where the hype was at.

I don't think a lot of people really understand what CDPR is aiming for. They want to create a world that feels like a living, breathing city. They want it to be as immersive as possible and that's a huge undertaking. I can't wait to see if they pull it off. Personally I think they will.

I think they will too. I doubt the visuals will be as good as the demo. But Im confident the world, story telling, and gameplay will be top notch.

This, plus all the role-playing possibilities. Those character creation screens should more customization than I've seen in a recent RPG.

But seriously though, I think an open world cyberpunk game using the Shadowrun setting would be much baller than Cyberpunk 2077.

The only other games I can think of in development hell that long are Kingdom Hearts 3 and a Final Fantasy 7 remake. They'll probably turn out okay, but I feel like the more hype a game builds now the worse it ends up meeting expectations. May be tainted on Kickstarter failures too, though.

Not true.

It was announced in early 2012 so it's been in development 6+ years. It was in development at the same time as The Witcher 3.

It was announced really early in 2012 while it was still basically a pitch concept. They saw that people liked the concept so it went into pre-production. They didn't really dedicate everyone to it until Witcher 3 was done.

Literally mostly pre-rendered still images with a few dudes at the end. No gameplay or anything. We're saying they didn't begin actually creating the game itself until they were finished with The Witcher 3 entirely.

Those stills were characters drawn in REDengine 3.
How did they decide what art style to do? How those characters would look? The background? The development of REDengine 4 just for this game?
These things does not appear out of thin air and they belong to the game development.

Yeah in pre-production.

We're saying that it wasn't really under full scale development until they were done in The Witcher 3.

It's more like if people were done with The Witcher 3 (which would gradually happen as they were finishing up as people work on different stages of the project) they would then move onto Cyberpunk. So logic would dictate that they didn't enter full-scale production until 2016. Maybe a bit earlier depending on how they worked on the DLC.

Games can be in a pre-production/pitch phase for a while. This is when they are pitching the game to their bosses and publishers to get the green light for full development. They might work on a vertical slice to show what it would be like. Sometimes developers can even have a few games like this at once and only go with one.

We'll have to wait and see what the actual class system is like but the one thing that slightly disappointed just from an initial reaction is when he said the class system is dynamic.

I kind of prefer to choose my class in the beginning and have it be a framework that defines my character. It's not a super big deal, In a game like Skyrim I did end up creating like a dozen different characters and playing them differently, the problem there is you kind of have to put artificial barriers in your brain when the class system is dynamic. Otherwise in the case of Skyrim every character for me would just end up sneaking through dungeons picking off dudes with a bow.

But we'll see how she goes.

It wasn't in development. They announced it super early but hadn't actually started any work until after Witcher 3 dlc was fine.
