You are chosen for your image and being paid to spread awareness of the product. You are a walking billboard basically. If you have a shady family history then you are compromised. As an athlete you understand when you get sponsorship/endorse a product. You can lose your sponsorship from having shitty friends, being born in a certain environment, anything. The sponsors don't owe you anything. This is how it has always worked.
