Can we discuss this? Apparently, they are testing out if a game goes into extra innings, each team that bats going forward starts the inning with a runner on 2nd base.

I get that sometimes games can go very deep, like 17-18 innings, but I really don't like this idea and don't think it's the proper way to settle a game.

I'm still not a fan of the shootout in the NHL either, never have been, I think they should rethink that system also, but that's old news.

Does anyone like this rule? Would you want to see it in the MLB?

I'd rather see the game die from younger peoples' lack of attention than morph into something unrecognizable. Soon it'll be 7 innings with a mercy rule and a strikeout will be one strike with a walk will be two balls

No, it has absolutely no place in playoffs. I'm very glad the shootout has never hit NHL playoffs and they maintain continuous OT. I think it would really damage both sports in the post season.

Only reason I even heard about it was a pitcher had a 2 pitch inning, first pitch hit into a double play, and then a fly out I believe. It was never possible to have a 2 pitch inning prior to this, obviously.

I think MLB needs to accept that they just aren't going to draw in younger fans regardless of how "fast" they try to make the games and these moves are just going to alienate the folks who like the game as it is.
