As the resident Metroid guy what do you think of it

Are you talking about White Palace or Path of Pain?

I thought White Palace was fun and made me think of Super Meat Boy.

I didn't finish Path of Pain.

White Palace is decent practice for the true final boss.

Still have not beaten the Nightmare King. I should go back and try that again.

Fantastic game at almost every turn overall imo, especially for how much you get at such a cheap price. Can't wait for the last free dlc.

When it comes to popular talked-about metroidvanias nowadays, Hollow Knight is incredible and one of the best. Incredibly stylish and atmospheric with a large focus on exploration and some challenging but fun boss encounters

Axiom Verge is another talked about one... that is pure uninspired trash

Environmental Station Alpha is great for another

Look into the La-Mulana series for some of the best. The second one just came out last month and it's great (although it still has some bugs being worked out... and one mistranslation that made a single puzzle impossible to figure out in the english version unless you cheated and looked it up, but again all being fixed)

Finally got announced for PS4 but still not til next year ;_;

Yeah, the quality in that one is all over the place. I feel like it would have lent itself better to a run and gun style gameplay. The main gimmick would have been thrown out the window, but then there'd at least be a reason to use the dozen weapons you get that are completely useless compared to the one or two that are OP.

That, or it should have been more puzzle based like La-Mulana. I give it a 6/10.
