This is the most diverse forum I have ever been on. The first forum I've been on (and down the block) that is not 98% male dominated.

Yet whenever I'm in a conversation on here I'm always like

"Listen Man..."

"Listen guy.."

"Whatever makes you happy bro"

Sometimes I hit submit and then remember, wait what if that's not a guy? I shouldn't have been so aggressive (because obliviously I don't speak to women with that tone when offline so why would I online?)

So yeah, does anyone else do this to some degree? Make a reply to someone else and just assume it's a guy you're talking too?

Sometimes. It seems like the girls on here just roll with it since they're used to it or don't care.

I love it when someone tells me they're not a guy.

Cause then I can tell them to start acting like a lady.

Or if they mention being a girl, they'll get shit tons of annoying attention.

Some girls here though crave that attention. _

I usually just edit the quote and wait to see if anyone notices.

also, in my part of the world, "guy" is gender neutral.

I've had one instance of getting "*she" as a response to having referred to a user as "he" and it didn't have any hostility or anything with it. I just edited my post and said something like "noted and edited previous post" and that was that. Most of the time, I can tell by username or I'll see people referring to someone with female pronouns before I've really interacted with them. In one case, a female user posted selfies in an opening post of a topic and it was the first time I had ever even seen her post.

I've been wrong the other way too. I don't know if you remember this, but in TES4, the first time I was on the same team as Jorep, for some reason, I thought he was a chick and I even posted something in one of the discords because I didn't know one way or another lol

Haha I didn't know anyone at the time so I tried not to make any assumptions. It also feels awkward to ask, but that could just be my natural awkwardness.

Well one of the typical responses female posters get on male-dominated message boards like this is "prove you're a girl with a pic ". It's an unfair double standard because nobody really demands male posters to prove their gender.

And what do the female posters get in return if they give in to the demands for posting selfies to prove they're female?

Not much...

A bunch of creepy guys get free pics to beat off to, enemies get editable social media ammunition, and armchair critics (usually too afraid to post their own selfies) get a front row seat to bash a female poster over her appearance.

There's like no legit reward for a female poster to give pretentious CEman pics. You argue she could receive tons of praise from CEman for her looks...but that's not really a perk for her. It's a hazard. It's applause from a dysfunctional male peanut gallery that attempts to supplement pics of women for the girlfriends they wish they had. And some of you guys can get clingy and desperate as fuck for female attention in topics rofl.

We also have long time male posters trolling around on female alts and a bunch of the thirsty bastards here shower the alts with horny attention. The thirst is that tragic here.

tl;dr:
There's next to zero incentive for female posters to reveal their gender here.
If anything, they have more incentive to keep it a secret because of all the awkward CEman who are either horny or vindictive towards women.

I'm well known enough in the community that I just steer into the awkward and embrace it lol. I kinda did that in the first game too just to try and be relevant and memorable and it ended up solidifying me with allies who would ultimatelyi help me get to the end and win. Unfortunately I had too much of a reputation by 4 and my attempts to go Richard Hatch casual among the outer circle of my reach didn't keep me off the radar like I wanted. Oh well :P

This is honestly the truth. It only gets annoying when people persist and get confrontational about it. Like really dude? For what purpose?
