started playing this game near launch, and at the time, I really enjoyed it, to the point where I convinced myself it was fine to spend a little bit of money during the first Voting Gauntlet to get Lucina. Eventually, I kept telling myself that this would the last time I pay (which obviously wasn't), and this just continued to spiral downwards. I think the reason for this might be because I used FEH as a coping mechanism to deal with school and stress.

Now, I'm 4k in the s*** and I can't even pay for my upcoming semester's tuition. With no way of properly paying my tuition, I've reached out to Nintendo last night, asking them for a refund and to delete my account, but obviously they refused (because why would they).

EDIT: I don't even want to play this game anymore and every time I see it on my phone it just depresses me. The only reason I haven't deleted it off of my phone as well as my account data is because I hope that Nintendo will give me a refund and delete my account.

Tried like $80 worth of pulls for the best assault rifle. Ended up nearly max ranking the collector one with like 220 bullets per magazine.

Ive spent over 10k on mobile games, but I can also afford it. I can understand the mentality of people who go broke at casinos hoping for the big one. I cannot understand someone who goes broke on a mobile game. You literally know you are getting nothing but pixels that have a shelf life of 5-10 years before you can never access them again.

Many of them aren't even games. There isn't any gameplay. You just click things that pop up and wait for things to finish, then click more things, then wait. If you don't want to wait you pay. That's the entire "game".

I think he means there's a lot better things to spend 4000 -10,000 bucks on and have something to show for it , could have had a decent car , plot of land in a rural area , 40-100 100 dollar hookers .

just because you don't agree or like how he spent money on something doesn't make it pathetic. for all you know, he could be making six or seven figures and is well off enough to spend that much. it's like someone saying your hobby/pastime is pathetic because they dont like what you do for fun.

This is good in theory and I know the point you're making, but when someone's hobby is to spend a huge amount of money on a type of thing when there are other things of the exact same type but much better for a fraction of the cost, it's kind of hard to understand.

Like if you told me fashion was your hobby and you saw no problem spending $10k on a bespoke designer coat I'd think that's pretty extreme but I'd also get it. But if you told me that fashion was your hobby and you liked spending $10k at H&M I'd be like...what?

Mobile gaming just doesn't seem worth it and it's hard to understand people who blow massive massive amounts of money on it. I'm not convinced they love it that much, it just comes across more like lowkey addiction.

People who have compared it to gambling are spot on. Its the mentality of frustration when you dont pull good units. I put down money on the game, realized getting the good units was going to be a crapshoot and then just deleted the game. Because yes you can survive off the free currency but you will be underpowered compared to people who spend money trying to get good pulls you werent lucky enough to get. I didnt want to enter a sunk cost fallacy.

It kind of boggles my mind how gambling is so tightly regulated here in the states and yet stuff like gacha and loot boxes has no oversight at all.

Eh, "better" is subjective, I know I wouldn't spend money on those kinds of things (wouldn't spend it on a mobile game either).

Anyway, this guy should have been more careful regardless of what he was throwing money at, anything can become a destructive vice if you let it.

Heres the problem with "well it's his/her money and they can afford it!"

Being a whale does effect others in these games. If people are willing to plop tens of thousands of dollars then these companies will continue with shitty gacha type games.

If whales had an ounce of self control or common sense it would force them to create a different model. Perhaps one where you actually pay a flat price and have the option to get all the content you want or should have.

But no, selfish players dont think of that.

10k bucks and you dont even have every character or weapon.

How is that even acceptable?
