She said it was because all the students represent the school, and its also so that teachers can tell at a distance who is their student or not. I remember some kid getting made fun of because his mom took him to one of those Clothes 4 less places to get his uniform. But it did help with bullying in my city though, a lot actually and I'm from like a middle to lower class black city. Bullying will always be there, but at least they couldn't do it for clothes. Plus it saved money because I only wore like 2 pair of pants and like 3 shirts lol. In middle school moms didn't wanna buy a lot of different clothes.
