that topic about the dead singer was not trolling. I was telling the truth. I never knew her name. I didn't know who she was until they said she sang Respect. and Natural Woman. those are her only songs I know but I didn't know who sung them. the mods said

no. it wasn't trolling. I don't actually troll ever. at least not maliciously. I might tease people sometimes. but that's it. I was being sincere.

The TOU actually is subjective. Allen said he trusts the mods to use their opinions if something is a violation.
Some mods won't mod flames unless the user its about marks it.

The problem isn't that you were intentionally trolling. The problem is that you upset a variety of people and as such you were triggering them and thus it was a troll thread even if it was accidental.

I think I once got mass marked for trolling by invading CEmen on a special interest board. The regulars there do not snitch. People flame and post politically incorrect things and nothing happens.

I always found it more prudent to just Google search an individual in topics regarding their death than to run in and ask who. It provides a more expedient and detailed answer, and with the added benefit of not appearing like a callous troll just in case that person was a well known and beloved individual.

Maybe try Google next time instead of the approach that makes you indistinguishable from a troll.

So what if there's a topic where a guy claims he doesn't know shit about a famous person who's dead and doesn't see why there needs to be an entire news day dedicated to her? The guy makes the topic, and then people call him out and make fun of his ignorance. It's the same thing that would happen if you were hanging out at a friends house with a bunch of friends and one of your friends is like "who the fuck is Aretha Franklin?" and then everyone goes "ohhhh duuuude....are you fucking kidding me!?!?" and then they make fun of him and then he gets all flustered but then he cools down because hey everything is cool.

CE is just a big group of friends. Sure we rag on people, but in the end we all love and respect one another. I see no harm in that topic. It was a natural, common social occurrence...the kind that we need to let play out.

You don't have the benefit of infinite time and knowledge acquisition capabilities in real life as you do on the internet. And real life conversations have the added bonus of context. In real life, you can look confused, and people that know who you are will give you a benefit of a doubt. Not so much while on the internet.

For example, if I didn't know who Robin Williams was, and someone posted a thread "Robin Williams is dead" and I go in the thread and post "Who?" I'm being an asshole. It doesn't matter whether I knew who he was or not.
