This time they sent me an email that movie pass now has a 3 movie a month limit and that if i don't hit accept to those terms my account will be cancelled.

Supposedly, it's three movies a month, from a list of six.

I probably wouldn't watch more than 3 films a month anyway. But Moviepass is such a sinking ship that I wouldn't bother.

You seem to assume that moviepass will even be a service nine months from now.

I don't assume or even think that; MoviePass themselves do.

I miss when the regular price was like 30 or 40 bucks a month and they weren't going under.

Nah, it's still the $10 a month they were doing but now limited to 3 movies a month instead of once per day.

I would have stuck with it, but their constant changing of their policies, and the inconsistency of showtimes they'll allow was BS enough I went ahead and canceled.

I really can't imagine why anyone would stick with this company. I get a policy change e-mail from them like every few days and I haven't even been a member in like 7 months. Even if I wanted to rejoin after all this bullshit I couldn't for two more months.

it was nice for the 10 or so months before they killed it though

Anyway I canceled after Ant-Man still had peak pricing two weeks after it was released.

The service is basically having monthly ToS changes. I'm hearing that they removed peak pricing but are now just blocking out movies entirely. When I went to go look, literally every movie in every theater was unavailable except for e-tickets. While I do go to the theaters that support the e-tickets, they are in very inconvenient locations for me because there's like 4 other closer theaters that don't support e-tickets.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm still OK with it. I got a gift of a year membership last December (around $90), and have seen 9 movies over the past 6 months in which I activated it. I know that's not a lot, but matinees are ~12 in Atlanta, so I've more than broke even. None of the blockbusters I wanted to see have been surge priced or blocked, and I've seen a few I only noticed because they were listed (Annihilation and Upgrade). We'll see what happens when my sub ends in January, but if I get another 90/year deal I might reup.

They said the current subscriptions were protected from surge pricing that's why you haven't noticed it because they could be sued after you paid for a year. Once it renews your sub will follow the new rules

I should have clarified - I saw some movies marked with surge/blocked, but didn't encounter them with the specific movie I wanted to see. Again, this may be because my experience and movie times happened to fit what MoviePass was offering.

E ticketing theaters are still unlimited I think or at least only restricted to 3 movies a month and it can be any movie. $10 a month and matinee tickets are $5-6 near me and I can only go once a week so it's still a great deal.

AMC has a good thing going with their 3 movies a week for $20 a month program. It's been getting some great reviews, I might have to jump ship.

i'm enjoying it, but at 20/mo it's not going to appeal to as many people as movie pass did. works with 3d/imax as well, though the nearest imax here isn't convenient to get to for me.
