Current Events > For dudes' online dating profiles, should the 'best' picture be the first one?

Here's a summary of my six pictures atm

1.) Tuxedo picture. Possibly the best picture of me in existence. Sporting a bright smile and walking in-stride looking like a fucking runway model.

2.) Business "semi-formal" (nice blazer, button-up shirt, khakis) - It's a fairly close-up shot of me making a slightly silly face at my phone. It looks better than it sounds, I swear.

3.) Fairly far away picture of me with some friends. Shows my body shot. It's not one of those where you're playing "which one is he?" - of the four of us, there's me, an Asian girl, an Indian dude, and a tall white guy with a buzzcut. No mistaking which one is me.

4.) Medium-distance shot of me going up to catch a frisbee outside. Another body shot, plus it's bright and colorful and looks a little badass.

5.) Another far away body shot under some Christmas lights.

6.) A professional-looking photo of me wearing a helmet and holding a camera sporting a nice smile. It's a good picture definitely worthy of being #1, but it's old.

My question is, for dudes, is it ideal to start with one's best foot forward? I imagine it'd be better for securing the "swipe immediately" crowd who only looks at one picture before choosing yes or no. But on the flip side, I figure if I start with my second best shot, then put the tuxedo one second, I can illicit some kind of "oh he's pretty good *moves to second picture* oh he looks really good" reaction, to sorta build myself up if that makes sense (it does in my head).

Whaddaya think? Tuxedo picture first or second?

The problem with this is that if they keep going for a mediocre or bad picture, a good one won't change their mind, they've already decided to check out your bio after the first picture. On the other side using your best picture will mislead them into thinking you look like that 24/7, but that's how tinder works.

Yeah that's another thing I meant to mention in the OP; the tuxedo picture is me at my absolute best. It's all downhill from there.

On the real, I'm not a big bar guy / going out guy, so that's not an option for me.

Lol fuck that, the ones where they're holding a fish or dead animal of sorts make me swipe left almost instantly (unless they're SUPER hot).

You're best pic should be 2nd. The first needs to grab their attention and the 2nd needs to hold them there with your attraction.

That's really what I'm thinking - 1 or 2 definitely, just depends on which one. Problem is, I miss out on those who don't bother moving to the next pictures.

you are putting far too much thought and effort into this. Leave that for girls to worry about, most women dont find that attractive in a guy. You want to put off the vibe that you dont give af and you can get laid any time you want, then they will be all over you

But the thing is, tinder really isn't all about hookups anymore. It's a shell of its former self when it first came out. Sure there are people on there looking for hookups, but it's nowhere near the density it was back in its heyday.

I just had a hookup in a city I traveled to last weekend. I've also been talking to a different girl that I'm sure I can seal the deal with this weekend in the same city.

Maybe it's a problem with my messaging; how do I make it clear that I'm more interesting in hookups? I think I focus too much on "getting to know you" and less on "let's fuck"

I stay away from pickup lines and just get straight to trying to hang out.

I travel so I just let them know i'm in the area for a few days and I saw (X) in your profile and saw that (something related to X) is in the area to do.

Then I can kinda chat about and ask them about it that them and hopefully get them to do that with me.

It's kinda like a casual date but they know i'm only in town for a minute so by the end of the activity they'll know whether or not they wanna come back to the hotel.

The last girl I hooked up with lived in a smaller town I was visiting and liked animals. There was a trail ride nearby so I got her to do that with me for 2 hours.

I'll have to try that next time I travel. I don't go around much for work, and if I go somewhere for vacation I'm usually rooming with friends so it'd be weird to bring back hoes to smash

The profiles that ask for those lines don't give a fuck they just wanna see if they matches with someone who will make the first move and can hold a conversation.

to weed out creeps/mentally unstable people

And if you're really trying to only get laid drop the fucking standards and swipe right on EVERY girl. This gives you the selection to choose from and you will always have girls to fall back on if your first choices dont work. The lower tiered girls can be good practice to see what works and what doesn't.

Yeah I will say I do need to drop my standards for Tinder. I'll keep them up for OkCupid because I'm not tryna start a relationship with someone unattractive, but if I really get thirsty I should drop'em.

I'm not saying you have to hookup with the bottom barrel chicks but you may run out of your best selections and there will be a average girl who is "good enough" for what you're looking for in that moment.

Logic says use your best pic first since humans are so fucking big on first impressions. That way you bait them in.
