My little brother has one, and it seems to do a pretty good job. Do you have one? How do you like it? Is 15 bucks or so a good price?

if its an android tv or samsung tv check if the app is in their TV store or whatever.

i have an older samsung tv so it wasn't there, so i got the steam link back during the summer sale for 10 bucks after shipping.

i love it. its great. i got it so i can get non-exclusives on PC and still play it on the TV. i hate hate HATE that i can't play my ps3 psn games on my ps4. so annoying. but if its on steam, ill always have it and have something that can play it.

Eh, I paid $5 for mine, and I would say that's about what it's worth for me personally. There's nothing it can do(other than play games via PC - which if you're not using ethernet, don't even bother) that other streaming players can't do, and better.

I'm hardwired in, so no issues there.

I have a smart TV

It's an Android TV app.

I have a Sony Bravia 2015. It's there, but it also seems to be slow as fuck through the app. Further testing is required.

The TV might have kind of shitty hardware. Test it some more

So when I use my switch pro controller wirelessly it's horrendously laggy.

When I plug it in via its USB cable the tv goes fucking haywire pressing every goddamn input possible and bringing up tons of menus.

When I plug in my Xbone Elite it crashes the whole tv.

The fuck

Literally you could have dial up and the Link would work well if your local network is good. Having dinner has literally nothing to do with it if I understand it correctly

lmao dinner fucking autocorrect

It was working just fine using the pro controller plugged in but I tried to change the volume using the remote and it flipped the FUCK out and started throwing a hundred inputs at the screen at once and it won't stop til I unplug the tv. This is mega janky. I think I'll just get a steam link proper

Steam was giving them away for free during the last big sale. They dont work. Or at least only really work for certain conditions. The damn thing needs to be hardwired to the router. Ive heard trying to use it wirelessly is a mixed bag at best. So thats cool if your router is behind your tv or if youre prepared to run cat 5 cable through your house. But even then I hear you dont want to play games were any kind of lag is going to be an issue.

Well it's a good thing that both it and my PC are hardwired :P

It's a mixed bag. When it's working, it's great. But it has a variety of little hangups, where it'll stop responding and then you've got to slog over to your PC and restart Steam. It's a pain in the ass for me because my PC is in my office upstairs.

Also, some games without FOV options literally make me want to vomit.

Steam Link sure is a hell of a lot cheaper than building a home theater PC though.

Luckily my PC is just in the other room so it's pretty convenient. Only had one instance of some weird artifacting or anything like that, while I was playing Portal. Works quite well with my setup and I am quite pleased.

With a 5ghz wifi connection in the green the input lag isnt too bad but it is noticeable. I hear that hardwiring is best if that is feasible.

For best results, hardwire Steam Link to your network and hardwire your controller to the Steam Link. The lag on platformers was intolerable for me until I did both of these things. Most other genres, I didn't find it to be a problem.

With some tinkering you can pretty much eliminate the lag. Although yeah, running ethernet cable to your living room isn't necessarily a trivial task for everyone in every situation...

The network test on my Link gave me 0% frame loss, 2.57ms Network Time, 0.57ms Network Variance. That's good right?

It's definitely worth the $5 I paid for it, but my network is all gigabit wired ethernet. The only performance problems I've had were all related to controller/Steam controller issues.
