Current Events > You know, this Rime game seems really interesting. Anyone play it?

It's an action puzzle game. Move around this island, figure out puzzles to do stuff, etc. I saw a video of it, and it appeared to be a pretty fun game (if short), but the IGN review gave it a 6.5. I don't think I had ever heard of Rime before, but apparently it came out late last year for several consoles. Is it good to play, or not?

I think the first 20-30 minutes are great. Introduction to the world, the art style, and whatnot. After that, I think there's a small lul in the journey/gameplay but once it picks back up again I think it finishes very strong. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Thinking about playing it again but aside from the initial wow of the art style, I'm not really a fan of the opening hour of the game. Completely enjoyed what followed though.

Really embraces the feeling of a childlike wonder/ adventure before it decides to repeatedly kick you right in the nuts.

Look at that footage. This game looks REALLY pretty, even if it's not technically accomplished in the same sense that COD or Halo are. It actually looks fun, moving about quite freely, and solving puzzles, and with elements of Tomb Raider as well. It does seem bad how short and easy it is, apparently about 6 or 7 hours to beat it, and I'm not sure if there's extra stuff.

I'm surprised people didn't talk about this more late year. It seems like an interesting game...although of course, there's no brand recognition.

What do people think from the video footage?

You know, I've read the Switch version's graphics are actually pretty bad. Mostly the same as other versions, but weak resolution, and really bad framerate...but I don't really trust what people say when it comes to graphics, since anything less than 4K and 60 FPS graphics are "garbage", apparently. These same people wouldn't have done well playing early 3D consoles, i.e. 5th generation consoles.

Idk like 6 hours? There are some hidden collectibles that add a bit but its mostly a straightforward puzzle platformer

Yeah I think it took me about 2 or 3 days total. Really though just play it. I feel like you wouldn't be disappointed. Not the greatest game ever but definitely one I still think about from time to time.

It looks like it's about 9 hours to do everything. That's a pretty short game, when you think about it. Perhaps that's why it was only considered a minor release (at least, I assume it was, because I didn't hear about it at the time).

I dunno. Looks fun, but I like long and hard games, not short and easy ones.
