17 y/o Michael Dumas from Mephis, Tennessee had his foot infected with parasitic worms during a mission trip and his friends BURIED him in the SAND at the beach!!

They took a break to have some fun at Pompano Beach and days later he had bumps in his leg and gaping wounds that emcompassed his right foot and started eating through his foot

His mother, Kelli rushed him to the ER where doctors said they found several parasites, also known as hookworms living under his skin of his foot as Michael said he felt them WIGGLING around!!

Now Kelli is sharing the story to warn people about them and not to bury people at the beach

According to the CDC, a mild infection may have no symptoms but a severe infection brings on symptoms of rash, fatigue, diarrhea and loss of appetite.

Hookworm eggs are found in the feces of people infected with the disease and if an infected person defecates outside, or the feces of the person is used as fertilizer, eggs can hatch in soil and sand

Most people are infected by hookworms after walking on contaminated grounds and Michael was likely infected after being buried in the wretched sand.

4 other boys on that trip also exhibited symptoms

The worms in his foot were 3 INCHES long and he's now on antibiotics, anti-parasitic medications and steroids that cost more than 1300 smackers to pay for

They tried to FREEZE the worms by using liquid nitrogen and he could fee the worms wiggling around his body..

He can't wear shoes and has to soak his foot with BLEACH every day as pictures of his graphic infected foot were posted on facebook

Michael was lucky cause left untreated the worms could have EATEN his foot and burst out of his body!!
