For instance, say you have a friend that is addicted to speeding on the highway and his speeding tickets and severely impaired his lifestyle.

Would it make you a bad person to joke about him having a lead foot?

All people are different with their own vices right? We should have sympathy for all the same right?

What about an addiction to illegal drug use? Lots of people struggle with addiction right? Drugs are bad right? Oh wait... drugs are good right? End the war on drugs right?

Goes for all jokes, really. I tend to cope with things through gallows humor, but I scan the room first. When I first heard that Hunter Thompson comitted suicide, I said, "Holy shit, I bet the note he left is amazing". That was something I was comfortable saying in the presence of other degenerate HST fans, but probably not something I would have said to Anita Thompson directly while the body was still warm.

No, you might be a dick for dark humor but i wouldnt think of the person as bad.

Ok 15 to 2. Im calling it. So then this joke about Demi being on drugs shouldnt bother you then. After all, people all struggle with different things. Drugs isnt anything more special than other compulsions. If a YouTuber whos job it is to entertain an audience cant make a joke then no one can. That means you cant joke about the fictional guys speeding problem either. Otherwise youre a hypocrite.

Honestly, if you cant laugh at your or your loved ones issues, you don't deserve to laugh at anything. After timing and conflict, all comedy is at the cost of someone or something. All of it.

He did it because it was a smart move.
So wouldve I if I had already been the target of the outrage machine and I was making millions and my wife was probably getting nervous.

You put yourself into certain situations and it makes your defiance that much more costly. But defiance is what its going to take by the right people to stop this shit. I dont think it ever will. I think were headed for 1993 Demolition Mans future world where we all wear robe and give Mellow greetings for salutations. Personally, Im the Edgar Friendly type. Id rather live in the sewer than amongst that shit.
