Having to pay extra money to play games that you already bought online? Making consoles so incredibly cheaply that over half of them broke down? Let's not forget what they planned to implement at the Xbox One launch before the massive public backlash stopped them.

To be fair, ps3 was originally planning the same thing. Sony backed off when they saw the xbox backlash

This also made universal accounts possible. Publishers like EA didn't want you to see that your friends were playing different games while you were playing an EA game. They wanted to control everything.

This cost them significantly.

They also made consoles significantly easier for developers to make games on. Sony didn't do this until the PS4 and Nintendo didn't do this until the Switch.

And it didn't happen.

The PS3 had some sort of patent where they could possibly verify if a disc was used or rented. It was never used.

The PS4 was the following generation. It never had any DRM plans.

Both them and Sony need better exclusives developed in house so the console wars between them could be mildly interesting.

Nah. The worst would be Apple as the whaling trend started on their phones.

EA?

We can thank EA for ridiculously oppressive DRM, online passes, and murdering development studios.

Microsoft pretty much paved the way for online console gaming. MS has probably done more for the gaming industry in the past few gens than Sony has.

People complain that Microsoft made you play for Live, but don't complain about how shitty Sony online has been since it's introduction.

I said "big 3". EA's practices have had a far worse impact on the industry, for sure.

It's certainly cancelled a lot more games and closed a lot more studios.

No it didn't. There was nothing in the devkits like there was for the Xbox One. People knew about the online DRM for Xbox months before they confirmed it.
