Happens all the time to me. Just happened now as I'm out taking a walk.

An exemplary member of society drives by in a shitty jacked up pickup and yells the not very nice f word that is derogatory towards homosexuals.

Like why though? I don't get it. Has happened randomly to me my whole life since like middle school.

What I do get is the occasional jump scare scream from a car passing by. Why do that??

I used to have a friend that loved to do that in my car, I was not a fan of it. He once threw a pencil out the window and hit a young 13ish year old Asian kid in the face in his own nice neighborhood.

Like is it an instinctual thing? That fear of "the other?" I remember learning about that. Some researchers think that might be where bullying comes from. Some kind of instinct in the person says this person doesn't belong to the tribe. They must be picked on to remove them from the tribe.

Something like that.

Only happened to me once or twice. A bunch of frat bros drove by and yelled "p****" either at me or the other random stranger next to me (who was in his 40s or 50s). Other dude immediately flipped them off.

This is a little different but there was also the time I admittedly cut this driver off. He then proceeded to follow me for 15 minutes until I reached my destination, just so he could drive by me in the parking lot and cuss me out. Then he quickly drove away before I had the chance to respond. As you'd expect, dude was a bald guy driving a pickup truck with huge wheels.

It's always dude Bros or rednecks. Basically similar profile to bullies. That's what I've experienced anyway.

Because some people think it's funny. Pretty much that simple. Been in a car with people like this. There was no pre mediated conversation about it. Dude decides to spontaneously stick his head out the window and scream at someone, laugh about it for a second and moves on. Like your not so special that someone has planned to target you

Like I have that "be an asshole" impulse sometimes. But I don't listen to it because it doesn't make sense to me. It does not make sense to be an asshole. Find a way to entertain yourself without bothering others.

They yell gay slurs at you since middle school? Maybe people like them target people who you vaguely resemble. And if you get pissed there's no way you're going to run and punch someone already making their getaway in their rusty ford f-150.

I don't really see this happen. Mostly just people honking their horns and shit.

However there was one time me and a friend were riding bikes at night and someone tried to flick a lit cigarette at us. Like fuck you dude. Thank god it wasn't a glass bottle or something else.

If there's one thing I hate about cars it's the people driving them

there was one time when I was in middle school and I was walking to school, in one of the side streets there was a car at a stop sign that waved me to cross so I started walking across, then when I got like 1 step before going in front of the car the guy speeds off laughing, it's like really you gonna get that close to running over a kid?

and one other time when I was crossing a street a few years ago there was a car waiting for me to get across the street so they can do their left turn, then when she got close she yells at me "next time walk faster" when I was already walking at a pretty fast pace and even then the extra second or two doesn't matter when they are the one in the thing going 30+ mph

tl;dr why drivers gotta do pedestrians like that :(

One time I was carrying some groceries home and some backseat jackass tried to trick me by shouting, "Hey, you dropped something!" but I didn't even turn around because I knew it was most likely bullshit. When I got home and took stock of my groceries, comparing the contents of the bags with the receipts and realizing that I had not, in fact, dropped something, I let out a slight chuckle because I knew that the guy must have felt pretty stupid when his little trick fell flat.
