Isn't that kind of funny? They claim to be for free speech, but try to ruin anyone who attacks them.

GamerGate is the literal definition of a group that the journalists use for fear-mongering. They aren't as big as the media would have you believe, and they have very little actual influence nowadays.

I'm getting conflicting messages from their statement.

Criticizing gaming journalism isn't the problem. Except it is because it means you're aiding with Gamergate.

So, if you make a jab at gaming journalists, you're part of a "hate group". And you wouldn't want to be part of a hate group...would you?

Basically, today's method for journalism is to put all your haters in a category of sexists, racists, bigots, etc., so you can feel good about ignoring their criticisms, instead of fixing your own problems. For gaming journalism, GamerGate is the boogeyman that exists in all parts of the internet, as if it is Hydra, and all of your haters are a part of it.

If you want to fall on the sword for Jessica Price, don't be surprise when everyone laughs at you for being foolish, and your credibility is ruined in their eyes. You're not going to win over gamers by continuously calling them sexist, and a group full of hatred.

They targeted gamers.

Gamers.

We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.

We'll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it's fun.

We'll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.

Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.

Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?

These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.

Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You're not special, you're not original, you're not the first; this is just another boss fight.

i'm just sick of people calling everyone racist or sexist whenever they don't like some movie or game. in today's world, it's impossible to just not like something. it's always cause they are bigots. it's never the fault of the makers of the games or comics or movies. nope. it's racists, man

I know. The right does it too, and we see it all the time that anytime a minority, woman, non-heterosexual character is introduced, many will claim it is SJW pandering, as if people like that don't exist in real life. Metroid would be considered sjw pandering if it was made today.

i'm just talking about when developers or articles or whatever declare "hate group campaigns to stop star wars" or "racists don't buy new game that stars a minority"

there are alot of minorities in movie and games now. and there is nothing wrong with that. but it also doesn't mean that these products are automatically great just cause of the minority star. but the makers of them can't ever accept they just made a bad product so they blame people and call them racist or sexist. I don't mean any kind of censorship thing. I am simply referring to these instances when a movie or game tanks and the makers try to say it failed cause racists didn't buy it. and that it couldn't possibly just be it was a bad product
