Your machine specs don't always equal better performance. People have this misconception with emulators all the time, too. If it's poorly optimized, it's going to run like shit even on the most beastly build.

I think it lagged on the actual console, too. Some of that game's sequences had way too much stuff happening on screen for the tech of that era to handle it without issue.
