Thats expensive for a gym imo but I dont know where you live.

My phone payment is cheaper if I do auto-payments, because they want to encourage people to forget and keep paying even if they're dead. I'm sure the gym is using similar logic.

Plus it's normally meant to be $1028 for 12 months. I get a corporate discount. Oh, and it will be able to claim about 30% of it from health insurance too. Oh, and this is a fancy schmancy gym.
