carried out the Armenian Genocide.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Turks#1915%E2%80%931918:_Armenian_Genocide

The Armenian Genocide was the Young Turk government's systematic extermination of its Armenian subjects. An estimated 1.5 million people were killed.

Young Turks was a Turkish nationalist party in the early 20th century that consisted of Ottoman exiles, students, civil servants, and army officers.

Cenk Uygur has balls.

He denies the Armenian Genocide happened then named the show after the group behind it.

It's like if someone was a Holocaust denier and they named their news show The Nazis

lmao! And his co-host is Armenian and defends him

I will never understand how Ana Kasparian, an Armenian, looked at a show named after the group that carried out the Armenian Genocide hosted by an Armenian Genocide denier and said "yeah, I think I'll work here."

It used to be a different story. For a few months after Ottoman defeat in the First World War, the massacres were openly acknowledged and condemned in the press and parliament in Istanbul. That lasted until around May 1919 when the Greeks occupied Izmir. After that, accusations by foreign powers of mass killings of Armenians started to look to Turkish nationalists like a pretext for carving up the Empire, so in their minds denial of the genocide became linked with defiance against occupation and partition. It was a habit that stuck.

good context, thanks. really horrible that they still use it as a shield against truth.

and TYT lose any little credibility they had by falling in line.

To my knowledge she's since made him change his stance on that, so I guess she's done some good? Still off she'd work for him in the first place though.

Nothing, hence intellectual dishonesty.

What you implied was the The Young Turks political commentary show was named AFTER the holocaust deniers.

And not that the term "Young Turks" has been used repeatedly thoughout history for a large number of groups and has become a common vernacular term for anyone who is progressive and anti establishment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Turks_(disambiguation)

Cenk named the show after it because not only does he fit the term, he's literally Turkish.

Having said that, you actually did say something untrue.

This:

It's really not like that. It's more like if a French Girl called Lorraine was a Holocaust Denier named their news show "All-Sorts-Lorraine"

Young Turks doesn't have the same meaning as Nazi. And is not comparable with a holocaust denier in of itself.

Cenk's holocaust denial is bad enough without having to be dishonest about it and risk turning people against your side.

And you know this.

He's never said he has changed his stance. He's said that those articles he wrote in college denying the genocide were wrong, but rather than follow that up with an admittance that the genocide happened he instead said he doesn't want to talk about it because he has no expertise on the subject.

...Despite the fact that he has a 3 hour news show every day where he talks abut thousands of things he has no expertise on.

Wish they'd let her actually respond to it. Seemed she wanted to at first, but the rest shut it down hard.
