I've never gotten the warranty on anything. If it turns out to be a lemon usually it's really obvious before the 30 day return policy.

If you have no choice but to house your console in a tightly packed area with no airflow, or you move a lot and the console is often packed up and shipped around, it might be a good idea. In any other instance, it's a scam.
