Nah it was just poorly written. Also the guy in the article could've said absolutely nothing and had the same effect as a criticism on the movie.

What would be 'cruel' is if Black Panther was the only time something like this happened for a film like this, and there was never a repeat performance. If you cut through the dramatic language, he's saying that this hasn't solved Hollywood's diversity problem (TEA) and that it remains to be seen whether or not Black Panther will change the way we think of diversity in big budget movies.

And the article really does say very little. Much of that above analysis is just me contextualizing and interpreting the comments as they're quoted. There's not really a story here.
