Current Events > Should unattractive people be more represented in media?

I'm not meaning people who are unhealthy, I.E obesity, but more along the lines of hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down. Typically, in movies and games, the main characters represent traditional, movie star good looks. I mean, yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but... some people, no matter what your taste is, it's just hard to look at them and not think "Damn, you ugly". It's like they won the genetic lottery, in reverse.

They don't even have to be outright fugly, but just not that appealing.

Should the everyday man get more shots at the spotlight, or do you think this would upset people because they don't have eye candy?

How do you feel about this, personaly? Uggos, no uggos? Why or why not?

Someone cares, cause look at most blockbuster movies. Most of the main cast are good looking. I guess people are just bigoted toward unattractive people? I mean, if someone is genuinely unattractive, it's probably something that's beyond their control.

Nobody wants to pay to see ugly people on the big screen.

Also, there's plenty of normal looking or not so good looking people in smaller, indie films.

Don't forget the rules of attraction are different for everyone.

But I literally just realized my own has badically no representation at all, and frankly now that I know it doesn't bother me.

Depends on the medium/genre of that medium.

Like Old Western movies were great in large part to the ugly people they had in them. A few lookers but a lot of uggos, guys and girls that just looked rough like they belonged in the Old West.

Nowadays it's all pretty boys and sexy girls.

If they make another "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" movie...sure. Hire an ugly guy to play the ugly guy.
