People talk about different canons and different continuties and like multiple universes and stories where zombies turn up or Magneto becomes president or whatever.

But what if they are ALL canon and every single one is just Xavier fucking with some villain's head to make them think this is what is going on, when in reality they are sitting in a deck chair babbling and drooling incoherantly while their mind enjoys their fantasy word?

I mean with the exception of Magneto and Juggernaunt (and bullshit "oh they are just too powerful" villains like Galactus or Apocolypse) why couldn't Xavier just instantly stop every single villain in the entire Marvel rogue gallery instantly?

He literally can control people's minds, freeze time (as they see it) and locate everyone on Earth no matter whoever and wherever they are.

He's 2 functioning legs away from literally being God.

That should be the twist in the next Marvel Comic series. Story ends with like the Skrull or Mandarin taking over the world and then the last few panels pan out to reveal that's just what Xavier wants him to think and really the X-men are drinking his beer and Cyclops is fucking his wife.

Did I get shit wrong?

I don't tend to read comic books but I find superheroes facinating in the same way people like to look at exotic fish when they pass fish tanks.

I mean is there a reason why Xavier couldn't make Dr Doom believe he just killed Reed Richards when he didn't?

Boom, no "Hero kills villain and becomes monster" Dilemma and no revolving door prison where Doom comes and kills more people.

Something something die a hero something something become a villain.

He could do something like this, but eventually itd just collapse in on itself. One villain wrangles free, devises a Magneto-esque defende, frees the rest and shares the defense, chaos ensues, heroes win eventually, back to the status quo.

Tbh Im surprised it hasnt already been a storyline.

In theory, it's all fiction created by various authors over several decades, which inevitably leads to inconsistencies and contradictions.

No that's reality.

But this is a way to basically wangle/side-swipe that nonsense into a way that makes it coherant.

Basically an in-universe version of "Acks-you-warr-lee! That's not canon!"

It's not, and will never be.
That's why the major publishers have massive universe-wide retcons about once a decade. Every now and then, it gets especially silly in explaining how Peter Parker (or maybe he's actually Ben Riley?) is still in high school fifty years later. Occasionally, they try to rebrand heroes and pass-the-torch, then just retcon it all over again when sales tank and nostalgia drives sales of should-be-80 Dick Grayson reappearing like nothing's changed since the 40s.

Maybe they are actually delusions created by actual powerful telepaths like stryfe, not professor X of all people.

"Ben Riley" is actually evil supervilain Captain Nazi.

Xavier just mindfucked him into thinking he was "Ben Riley" Spiderman this whole time. It's all in his head, a dream.

That's why it has been going since the 40s.

You got a lot wrong actually.

Plus a lot of it is cannon just happened in other universes. Maeve 616 is the primary continuity while others are side stories.

"universes" that we know can't just be what Xavier is tricking someone into believing is real because.....?

I mean this is like a variation of the age old "Demons fucking with you" phillosophy.

Oh ya I like the idea of it. I was just throwing that in since I wasn't sure you were aware of that or not.

because they have crossed over, like old man logan coming from his alternate when classic wolverine was dead to have a replacement, and because there are single entities across the multiverse like the phoenix force, this is akin to every single theory that says "main dude is in a comma and everyhting is a dream bullshit"

Wouldn't work.

To many side stories that are entirely unrelated to whatever single villain "this world" is based on, but still gets somehow created by Professor X anyways.

Professor X is powerful, but he can't create entire mental universes that run on their own.
And creating an entire universe would probably be easier than trying to run one as a simulation with just psychic powers.
