As some of you know, many black males are offended if you call them "Boy." I get offended myself but that depends on the tone of how it's said. I'm not instantly offended if you call me boy no matter how you say it.

I talked to a white guy at work, who is really cool, that said he doesn't get why we would get offended in 2018. He even knows where it came from.

What is your opinion on this?

This is the same dude that said that black people were no longer called monkey's in this day and age, was then shown recent examples of people doing just that, then running away and never returning to the topic.

I think most people would get offended by it regardless, and depending on the context used, it definitely could register as much more offensive to a black person. The only real appropriate context would be endearingly calling someone "my boy."

good news is its one of those that's normally easy to figure out.

they say it with some stank on it, its racist.
they say it where its not really appropriate but without the stank on it, old time racist but is probably harmless.
says it in a context where its a normal word to use and without any stank, not racist.

depends on context. If it's racist, it's racist. If you refer to your friends as your "boys" your you're doing a Flava Flav impression or something, there's no reason to be offended.

The whole argument was over that clothing company that made the "coolest monkey in the jungle" shirt. I said that in the context, it was more like a term of endearment (like a parent saying their kids are monkeying around) around. The resident leftists were insisting that it was absolutely racist and that the shirt shouldn't have been made in the first place.

sjws don't see their own closeted bigotry.

whats more racist? calling a kid a monkey not taking into consideration their skin color at all. or immediately insisting a connection between skin color and monkeys.

As we're seeing here, Democrats and liberals are so entrenched in their ideology and identity politics that they can't handle the idea of a conservative black person and will outright accuse them of not being black to avoid having to listen to them.
